ABOUT ORDEAL!
Ordeal! is a high fantasy story about anthropomorphic animal people that takes a majority of its inspiration from 1990s – 2000s anime, manga, and RPGs. The story is set in Bruja, a grand city constructed around a colossal tree in the middle of the ocean, and follows Vaya Dela Magnolia, a down-on-her-luck demon hunter who desperately desires to escape the shadow of her family’s lofty reputation which she can’t ever seem to match. Expect action, intrigue, and a few laughs here and there. Most importantly, though, expect a lot of scenes of characters talking to each other and exploring their personal faults and sadness. This is my main focus when writing, and I always find that it lifts up the other aspects of stories too. Action is always better when I really care about the people fighting, after all!
The most efficient and convenient way to follow the comic is to follow me on Twitter HERE, where I post links to every new comic update as they go live. (As well as some other goodies sometimes.)
One more thing, I had a previous Ordeal! comic that was about Golmez, an avian fellow with apocalyptic visions. I wrote that one in bits and pieces a long time ago when I was in a much darker place. As a result, it came out unfocused and lukewarm, in my opinion. Someday I would like to revisit that story and improve upon it, but right now I’m focused on Vaya’s Ordeal. Golmez’s Ordeal remains up on the website, but it gets cut short before anything really happens in it. Just giving you fair warning if you decide to read it. Clicking the “First” button takes you to Golmez’s Ordeal, so if you just want to read Vaya’s Ordeal, simply use the chapter selection drop-down menu and select “Vaya’s Ordeal” instead.
Thank you for reading this, thank you for reading my comic, and I hope you enjoy!
ABOUT ME
I’m a walking disaster. I just draw a lot.
I’m a mostly sarcastic, somewhat cynical, frequently depressed Christian artist from the good ol’ U.S. of A. I grew up consuming tons of cartoons, video games, anime, and rock music that everyone wants to swear sucks now, but they couldn’t be more wrong (Limp Bizkit enjoyer). I prefer to keep to myself most of the time to work on art. While I don’t write explicitly “Christian” media (Most of which I think is quite poorly written), my faith is very important to me. It permeates my whole life, as well as affecting many of the theming decisions I make while writing. I’m just trying to get by, doing my best day by day.
